A developer for Richmond's former station building could be chosen on Wednesday (Nov. 6) when a special council meeting is convened.

Richmondshire resources committee is asked to decide between four submitted schemes presented to the public last week.

While some discussion is to be held in public, determination of the preferred bidder will take place in the absence of public and press because of the commercially confidential nature of the information disclosed.

A report to the meeting by Margaret Barry, corporate unit manager, confirms that the authority has not yet decided whether the Grade II listed building should be sold or leased and that no asking price has yet been determined.

However, she advises that, given the considerable investment needed, a sale could prove more attractive to a potential developer.

The four schemes are a health club with family restaurant; a tea and coffee museum and packaging complex; a cinema and arts area; and commercial units with eventual sports hall and cinema.

The committee meets at Swale House, Richmond, at 6.30. .
