A Darlington business has managed to save more than £18,000 in tax charges after being given advice to invest more of its money in projects focused on research and development.
The savings were achieved by the Barcode Solution Centre (BSC), which is based at the Lingfield Point business park, in Darlington.
It has recently undertaken substantial research and development work concerning the creation of a unique software package.
Business advisors and chartered accountants at Clive Owen and Company, in Darlington, made BSC aware of tax relief benefits available on research and development, which entitles the business to 150 per cent tax relief on expenditure, saving BSC £18,000 in corporation tax over two years.
