George Boateng was last night warned he faces the full wrath of the Football Association, and the game's governing body would expose his racist accusations against Nick Barmby as 'utter rubbish'.
As Boateng's English representative Barry Silkman argued his client would be cleared of any wrongdoings by the FA, Eirik Bakke angrily defended his Leeds United teammate and dismissed the Middlesbrough midfielder's version of Saturday's bust-up at the Riverside.
The FA confirmed yesterday they are to hold an inquiry into the clash between Boateng and Barmby and the subsequent melee that left the former Boro player with a badly scratched face.
After a furious Barmby denied on Monday he had made racist comments to Boateng, Bakke insisted the FA would see through the Dutchman's claims.
Bakke told Icons.com: "George Boateng has come out in the press saying Nick Barmby said racist things to him. But that's utter rubbish.
"Nick wouldn't say anything like that.
"In my opinion Boateng has only said that to save himself, but I am sure the FA investigation will discover the real truth."
Silkman, who works for Boateng's Dutch agent Siggi Lens in this country, is adamant the storm over the events at the end of Saturday's game will have blown over in a few days time.
He said: "I don't think George will be in trouble over this. I am confident he will walk away from this with his head held high."
The FA investigation into the incident that included Boateng spitting in the direction of Barmby and Jonathan Woodgate, clearly holds no fears for Silkman.
He said: "Hopefully, within the next day or two it will have all calmed down.
"The FA will be happy with everything that has been said by all parties and everyone can get on with what they do best, which is playing football rather than arguing about things off the pitch."
Boateng claimed at the weekend that Barmby had insulted his 'wife and brethren' but Silkman added: "George has been quoted out of context. No one has actually heard him say anything about racism.
"It came as a bolt out of the blue but Nick Barmby had a press conference and I think it's been blown up out of all proportion by Nick Barmby doing that."
Middlesbrough were last night refusing to comment about the incident.
