A DOG, which had its sight restored thanks to the generous readers of The Northern Echo, is looking for a new home.
Loveable mongrel Meg touched the hearts of the region when it was revealed she needed a pioneering operation to remove cataracts from both eyes.
Within days of her plight being revealed, Northern Echo readers raised £800 to pay for the treatment - to the amazement of the National Animal Sanctuary Support League (NASSL) in Darlington, which looked after her.
Meg's eyesight was soon restored and she has been living in a foster home since the operation earlier this year.
But now the four-year-old whippet-cross is looking for a more permanent home.
Pauline Wilson, of the NASSL, said: "I still get letters and phone calls from people wanting to know how Meg is, and I am now hoping someone will be able to offer her a home."
In August, Meg was named the prettiest bitch at the Ferryhill gala. She is a friendly dog but is still nervous sometimes, and would be suited to a home where there is another dog, although this is not essential.
Anyone interested in giving Meg a home is asked to call (01325) 321855 or 07748 268822.
