Durham Citizens' Advice Bureau is holding sessions on Monday at Ludworth Community Centre, between 11am and noon, and Bowburn Homeside Communal Hall, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
On Tuesday, a session will be held at Bearpark Community House, between 1.30pm and 2.30pm. On Wednesday, advisors will be at Ushaw Moor Community House, between 10am and 11am, and at Quarrington Hill Community Centre, from 11.30am to 1pm. On Thursday, sessions will be held at Kelloe Woodland House Communal Hall, between 10am and 11am, and at West Rainton Jubilee Hall, between 11.30am and 1.30pm.
COFFEE MORNING: St Mary's Church, West Rainton, is holding its monthly coffee morning and belfry shop on Saturday, between 10am and noon. Nearly-new clothing, toys, books, jewellery, bric-a-brac and other household items will be on sale.
COMEDY TALK: Raconteur Norman Kelly will give a talk, These Made Us Laugh!, about comedians including Norman Wisdom and Charlie Chaplin, in St Andrew's Methodist Church Hall, Coxhoe, at 7.30pm on Wednesday. Admission costs £1.50 and includes light refreshments. Proceeds will go to the church's new building fund.
TINY TERRORS: A Halloween party is to be held for toddlers in Sandcastles, on Front Street, Chester-le-Street, today, between 5.30pm and 7pm. There will be a fancy dress parade, games and prizes at the caf and soft play area.
SLIDE SHOW: Michael Richardson will give a slide show of pictures from his book, Durham City Remembered 1935 to 1965, on Wednesday, at 7pm, at the Fifth Durham City Scout Group, Boyne Hall, High Street North, Langley Moor. Admission costs £2.50 including tea and biscuits. Proceeds will go to the group.
CHRISTMAS DINNER: Chester-le-Street Lions Club will hold its Christmas dinner on Monday, December 9, at the Old England, Great Lumley, at 7.30pm. For tickets, call secretary Trevor Blacklock on 0191-388 3755. The club meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month.
FLOWER DISPLAY: Andrew Grisewood will give a demonstration when Peterlee Flower Club meets on Wednesday, November 13, at 7.15pm in the banqueting suite at Shotton Hall, Peterlee. There will be a raffle and sale tables. Tickets cost £4 and are available by calling (01429) 823380.
COUNCIL SURGERY: Easington district councillors Joyce Maitland, Colin Patching and Grahame Morris and Durham county councillor John Maddison will hold a surgery for people in the Murton East ward on Monday, November 11, between 6pm and 7pm, in the Glebe Centre, Murton.
CARE HOME: The Hanover Housing Association is seeking planning permission from Durham City Council to build a 45-bed extra care home for pensioners off Beech Park, Brandon.
