PUB staff will get in the spirit of Halloween tonight by dressing up in spooky costumes.

It will be party time at the O'Neill's Irish bar in Claypath, Durham, and customers are being urged to take part by donning their own ghoulish outfits.

During the night there will be Halloween games, apple dunking, music by local band 101 and prizes for the best fancy dress.

Assistant manageress Elaine Cupples said: "We've got an Addams Family theme and have called it Gomez and Morticia's wedding anniversary.

"The staff will be dressed in costumes from the Addams Family and the band have agreed to dress up.

"We like to party here and don't need too much of an excuse to dress up in silly outfits. It should be a good night. Last year, the place was packed.''

The fun starts at about 8.30pm and admission is free.

The pub is adding to its Thursday music nights by hosting tribute bands on Sunday nights for five weeks, starting this weekend with punk outfit 1977.

They will be followed by The Great Glam Mothers on November 10, Beatlejuice on November 17, Thin Lizzy tribute Black Rose on November 24 and The Rejexx, who play the music of Blondie, on December 1.

Elaine is hoping they will help people to get in the mood for Christmas
