POLICE have promised action after a spate of vehicle thefts in the Stanley and Consett areas last weekend.
Thieves struck 15 times in four nights, stealing four motorbikes, two cars and a van.
Crooks also stole property from a further five vehicles and made attempts to take a further three cars.
Det Sgt Dave Scott, of Derwentside CID, said: "We are taking action and police operations are in place. We need the public to help us by ringing in if they hear or see anything suspicious during the early hours of the morning."
The first thefts took place last Thursday night, when motorcycles were taken in Holly Terrace, Burnopfield and Hollyhill Gardens West.
Other thefts included a motorbike from Scott Street car park on Friday night and wheel trims from a car in Chester Road, Stanley. The folowing night a motorcycle was stolen from Annfield Plain.
On Sunday an attempted car theft was reported in Fawcett Hill Terrace and a car was stolen from Thomas Street, Craghead.
In Consett there was an attempted car theft in Cleaton Street on Sunday, and a car was stolen in Buttsfield Lane, on Friday night. Thieves took a van from Cutlers Hall Road, Blackhill on Saturday.
