PREPARATIONS are under way for two bonfires and firework extravaganzas to ensure Guy Fawke's Night goes with a bang.
Wear Valley District Council, in association with Bishop Auckland Rugby Club, will hold its annual display one day early - on Monday, November 4.
West Mills playing fields in Bishop Auckland, will host a fun fair and entertainment for all the family from 5pm.
The bonfire will then be lit at 7pm before the skies are illuminated by a spectacular display from 7.20pm.
On Tuesday, Guy Fawke's Night itself, Spennymoor Town Council will hold a bonfire and fireworks display.
The event, next to Jubilee Park, Carr Lane, promises to be a great night out as the council has organised entertainment, music and refreshments, from 7pm.
Donations made on the night will go to the Mayor's Charity Fund.
Tickets are also on sale for Crook Cricket Club's fireworks display and family disco, which will take place this Saturday at 8pm. Tickets cost £2 for adults and £1 for children.
