THE sad demise of the Blue Circle cement works at Eastgate is at the centre of an art exhibition.
Watercolour artist Jason Lowes is displaying several paintings of the site, which shut in August.
The pieces show the chimneys that have stood in Weardale for almost half a century.
Jason said: "The cement works has sustained a livelihood for hundreds of people in the dale over the years.
"Sadly, the chimney and its works will soon be gone."
Other pieces in the exhibition, held in the Lime Tree Gallery, in Stanhope Market Place, include landscapes, wildlife and rural scenes.
The exhibition can be seen from Monday until Sunday, November 17, from 10.30am to 4pm.
