THE outstanding achievements of two North-East teachers are to be highlighted on television this weekend.
Neil Parker, headteacher of Heighington CE School, and Roisin McVeigh, of Wolsingham Community School, both County Durham, won Plato awards - the teaching world's equivalent of an Oscar.
Mr Parker won the Leadership Trust award for school leadership in a primary school, while Ms McVeigh won the Guardian award for an outstanding new teacher.
The awards ceremony will be screened on BBC1 on Sunday at 3.10pm.
