MORE than 300 out-of-school childcare places are to be created in Hartlepool after a successful grant bid.
Hartlepool Borough Council has been awarded £184,151 from the New Opportunities Fund to provide a mixture of after-school, pre-school, wrap-around and holiday care for children aged three to 14.
The windfall will be shared between eight schools and two other organisations.
Schemes include 32 breakfast club places at Jesmond Road Primary School, 40 new after-school places at Brougham Primary School.
Penny Thompson, business support officer with the Hartlepool Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, said: "We are delighted this bid has been successful and this is great news for parents across the town."
