THE future of Scarborough's Alexandra Bowling Centre could be saved thanks to a partnership between the borough council and the district bowls club.

They have agreed to work on a business plan to breathe new life into the centre and bring in investment to make it a major attraction again. The two bodies will be meeting again in the New Year, once the business plan is drawn up.

ROAD CLOSURE: A section of the A167 East Road, between its junctions with Zetland Street and The Link, in Northallerton,will be closed to motorists between 8am and noon on Sunday.

SOUND & VISION: Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre, at Bond End, Knaresborough, is preparing for its next exhibition which explores the use of sound and vision. It begins on Saturday, November 9, and will be open seven days a week, between 10am and 4pm. For details, call (01423) 541888.

ROCK ON: The Swaledale Fell Rescue Organisation will be getting used to a different kind of rock this evening. The charity's headquarters in Catterick Garrison hosts classes in rock and roll from 7.15pm this evening.
