Newcomers to the league Richmond were expecting a touch game against a strong Stokesley, however, it was Richmond who took early control of the game. After a well executed penalty corner by Richmond the ball was struck by Helen Jack who was making her debut, past Stokesley's keeper Terri Mathews. The visitors settled quickly after the goal and exerted pressure on the Richmond defence, the pressure paid off with a goal from Donna Shaw to draw level. Roseberry 2 v 1 Guisborough
Another fine performance from both teams. Guisborough took early command of the game and held possession for the first 15 minutes putting Roseberry under constant pressure. Finally Roseberry found their form and reversed play, a quick break led to the first goal. The ball was cleared by the Guisborough defence only to be collected by Roseberry's Jan Jolly who slipped the ball behind the Guisborough keeper Claire Giles to take them into the lead by half-time.
A determined Roseberry commended the second half with several attacks on the Guisborough goal, their efforts resulting in a second goal this time from Trish Alderson. Guisborough's forwards Helen Barker, Sue Barker and Charlotte Page began to penetrate the Roseberry defence, some good saves by keeper Claire Ascough and clearances from defenders Susan Moore a Claire Harland denied Guisborough. The visitors continued to ply pressure and their grit and determination paid off when Cath Dixon scored from a forceful hit in the closing minutes of the game.
