Whitehill earned the three points with a hard-fought game away to Seaham Mallard. Mallard opened the scoring on ten minutes through Barry Cougle.
Gary Johnson replied with a powerful header from a Michael Graver corner. The visitors took the lead on the half hour mark when Kevin Coates slotted the ball under the keeper. Michael Pitt made it 3-1 for Whitehill on 60 mins. The Jonathan Rennoldson pulled one back for Mallard with a penalty, but Whitehill hung on for the win.
Cockfield trounced Ebchester 11-1. At half time the score was 4-1 to the home side with goals from Tim Hole, David Kemp-Ambler, David Wilkinson and Steven Rodgers. Chris Parkin scored for Ebchester. In the second half Tim Hole got his hat-trick, David Kemp-Ambler scored his second, Darren Fletcher, Mathew Dickson Chris Birbeck and Anthony White completing the scoring.
Black and Decker won a close encounter against Hartlepool Town winning 2-1. Paul Brady scored twice for the home side and Dave Smith replied for Hartlepool.
Sporting Club Sunderland had a comfortable 8-2 win against Springwell. In the first half the teams were level at 2-2 but the second half was a different affair that saw SC Sunderland land an easy two points. The scoreres were John Caines (3), Barry Cook (2), Gareth Greener, Gavin Wilson and Mark Lawton for the home side. Paul Bellamy and Wayne Hennesey replying for Springwell.
Two good sides fought out a close encounter when Seaham The Duke lost 2-0 at home to Brandon Station. The goals coming late in the game through Jonathan Bell on 78 minutes and David Fort on 85. Paul Knight missed a penalty for the visitors.
Durham Vic won 2-1 at home to Birtley Res with two goals from Kenny Melvin in the 35th and 70th minutes after Keith Armstrong had given Birtley the lead on 15 minutes. It is nice to see Craven Beal the referee for this game, highly praised by both teams for his excellent handling of the game.
Simonside are a team in disarray at the moment. Secretary Bob Gray was left scratching his head with this result when they went down 7-5 at home to Garden Farm Real. Simonside went into an early lead through Lloyd Coates and Steve Carling and seem to be cruising. Then Garden Farm hit with five goals from Lee Hewison, John Armstrong and a Steve Brownley hat-trick. The second half saw a bit of a fight back from Simonside with goals from Gavin Burn, Ray Simpson and Grant Callender but the game was put out of their reach when Dean Bridget scored twice for the Garden Farm.
