Bedale FC 7 v 0 Hollybush Utd: Bedale consolidated third place with an emphatic win over visitors Hollybush United, who slipped down to the bottom of the table.
Wayne Gredziak opened for the home side after ten minutes, he added the second eighteen minutes later, Adam Bramley made it 3-0 in the 30th minute before Gredziak made it 4-0 with his hat trick goal in the 38th minute. 4-0 was the half-time score. Two minutes into the second half Bramley with his second of the match and 9th of the season made it 5-0, Paul Orton then made it 6-0 two minutes later, his 5th of the season before Gredziak scored his 4th of the game and 15th of the season, he now is joint leading goal scorer with Dean Talukder of Acklam Steelworks.
Carlin How 4 v 4 Grangetown BC
A cracking game at Carlin How where visitors Grangetown Boys Club scored the fastest goal of the season when right from the Boys Club kick off, the ball was played forward with Carlin How defender Graham Solomon clearing it out to Michael Meggison who fired it straight past Craig Tyreman in the home side goal from 20 yards. Carlin How fought back and in the 20th minute they drew level when a cross from the right was played back to Martin Say who ran on before unleashing an unstoppable shot to make it 1-1. Seven minutes later the Boys Club took the lead again when the visitors keeper kick the ball down field and with the wind behind it bounced just out side the penalty box Tyreman in the home side goal seemed to have it covered but with a defender and a forward just in front of him spilled the ball and Meggison was on hand to grab his second of the match to give them a 2-1 half time lead. Five minutes into the second half the home side drew level when Martin Say broke down the right and his wind assisted cross found Jason Draper at the back post and he bravely bundled the ball home hurting his ribs on the goal post at the same time. Three minutes later Carlin How took the lead for the first time when a Kevin Hampton corner was headed home into the bottom corner by Solomon to give the home side a 3-2 lead. Five minutes later it was 3-3 when Danny Allen beat the offside trap cut inside and dummied the keeper and somehow squeezes his shot past two defenders on the line and the post to make it 3-3. The match swung in favour of the visitors and they were guilty of missing a couple of chances until the 70th minute when a free kick taken by Paul Cassidy who floated cross was headed out, but Ged Cairns who was making his debut twisted on the half volley firing the ball into the bottom corner to make it 4-3 from 18 yards. Ten minutes later it was 4-4 when a free kick by Steve Starsmore to Nicky Ward was clipped over his head into the bottom corner to end a thoroughly entertaining game.
Fishburn Park 0 v 0 Acklam SW
Whitby side Fishburn Park entertained second placed Acklam Steelworks on a very muddy and sticky pitch making football very difficult and neither side managed to find that all important ingredient a goal. The visitors who lost their opening two game are a much changed side, and have had an eight match winning run, which was interrupted with a 1-1 draw with Thornaby Youth Club tow weeks previous, they should have played the Huntsman in the County Cup, and so had a vacant Saturday last week. Fishburn had an opening five match winning run, lost to Bedale, beat Whitby Town Reserves in the MacMillan Bowl then lost to the two Thornaby teams, drew at Richmond before loosing to Carlin How in the Senior Cup before a close 3-2 win in the County Cup at Stokesley last week.
New Marske SC 0 v 0 Stokesley SC
Home side New Marske Sports Club completely dominated this match against visitors Stokesley, but poor finishing, the woodwork and the antics of Colin Smith in the Stokesley goal kept the match scoreless.
Nunthorpe Ath 6 v 1 Wolviston Res
Home side Nunthorpe Athletic playing catch up with the two teams above them, were shocked into action by visitors Wolviston Reserves who took a 6th minute lead with an eight of the season from David Atkinson. But a minute later Nunthorpe drew level when Anthony Roberts was on target, he then took the visitors on by himself with further goals in the 10th and 25th minute to make it 3-1and secured his third consecutive hat trick following his goals against his former club Grangetown Boys Club two weeks previous in the 3-2 win in Senior Cup and last weeks 3-2 win in County Cup against Edgehill. In the 35th minute Dominic Gamble have a rare full game for Nunthorpe made it 4-1 going into the half time break. In the second half the home side took their foot of the pedal but still managed to added further goals in the 65th minute from Peter Boldison and long term injury victim Chris Fuller who made it 6-1 in the 80th minute.
Richmond Town 1 v 4 BEADS FC
Home side Richmond Town who beat second division Whinney Banks 1-0 in the County Cup last week, were entertaining Middlesbrough side BEADS FC who suffered a 3-2 reverse against Carlin How in the same cup. It was the visitors who took the lead against an under strength Richmond side when Dave Mellon scored in the 25th minute, he then gave the BEADS side a 2-0 lead ten minutes later, this remained the score going into the half time break. In the second half as one would expect the home side pressed forward for a way back into the match but their hopes were dashed on the hour when a penalty was awarded from which Alan Oliver made no mistake and BEADS FC led 3-0. The match went into the last ten minutes when the visitors took an unassailable 4-0 lead when Paul Newham scored, five minutes later Adam Emson scored a later consolation goal to make the final score 4-1.
Thornaby FC 2 v 0 Mackinlay Park
ThIS match was very tight with the visitors defending well and trying to catch the home side on the break and at half time the score remained at 0-0. Fifteen minutes into the second half the League Leaders had the chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty but Michael Arif' s penalty was well saved by Michael Beech in the Mackinlay Park goal. This seemed to be the spur the home side needed and they pushed forward for the last fifteen minutes and were rewarded in the 81st minute when Danny Jones scored with a left foot drive. Eight minutes later Charlie Eeles who when introduced as a substitute seemed to liven the game up beat Beach in the Mackinlay goal in a one on one situation.
Thornaby YC 2 v 2 Whitby Town Res
Home side Thornaby Youth Club took a 1-0 lead after only six minutes when a good through ball found Stuart Jackson who scored his 3rd of the season after rounding the keeper. Visitors Whitby Town Reserves were on level terms four minutes later when a mistake by keeper Craig Longstaff gave Glen Smith the chance to equalise and he made no mistake with his 5th of the season. The home side pushed forward looking to regain the lead which they did in the 20th minute when Chris Burton curled a shot into the top corner of the Whitby goal from the edge of the box to take his side into the half time break 2-1 ahead. In the second half the Youth Club had a great chance to increase their lead through Martin Speight who beat three players before his shot was deflected past the post. Whitby seemed to be encouraged by this and they drew level in the 68th minute when Simon Tonge headed home at the far post to make it 2-2, the Youth Club then had Wayne Mahoney sent off after a scuffle and had to settle for a point.
Division Two
Billingham Wndrs 2 v 1 Teesside Link
Billingham Wanderers were entertaining Thornaby side Teesside Link in an end to end match, the home side were first to threaten when in the 3rd minute a flick on by Adrian Serrechia was blazed over the bar by Lee Thompson. Mathew Sykes then broke down the left and his ball to Serrechia, which he blazed over, in the 9th minute. Teesside Link threatened when Paul Lambert had a one on one with the keeper with the keeper coming out on top, but five minutes before half-time a penalty was awarded to the visitors with Lambert striking home the penalty with his 11th of the season, he's the second division top goal scorer. In the second half Lambert had a good chance to double the visitor's lead. In the 57th minute Paul Featonby making his debut made it 1-1 from the penalty spot. The match swung end to end but in the 80th minute a Paul Skipper cross was knocked home by Lee Thompson to secure the Billingham side a welcome win.
D'ton RA Res 0 v 2 D'ton SRM
This Darlington derby was evenly matched for the first 45 minutes but in the second half the Simpson Rolling Mills got on top and Paul Thorns scored. The RA pressed forward but were unable to make any impression on the game and Thorns struck again to make it 2-0.
Teesside Arriva 0 v 1 SMG Redstripes
Hartlepool side Teesside Arriva were entertaining the only unbeaten side in the second division, league leader Billingham SMG Redstripes. The two teams had not played each other this season and look to be one of four or five teams hoping to be promoted and in a tight match the home side never got going and a scrappy goal in a scrappy match in the 36th minute from Rory Newton settled the match in favour of League Leader SMG Redstripes.
Whinney Banks 1 v 2 Dormans FC
Dormans took a 20th minute lead through James McGowan's 6th of the season, youngsters Whinney Banks without a number of young players who were on County duty, struck back to level the match in the 33rd minute through Simon Cook's first of the season and at half time the match remained at 1-1. In the second half the more experienced Dormans side were a little bit more aggressive and this seemed to have the desired affect on the home side who fell behind to what turned out to be the winning goal in the 64th minute when Phil Hunter with his first of the match secured the three points for the Dormans side.
