After losing 9-4 in the reverse fixture last week Spennymoor Hillingdon got off to a good start when they hosted Bishop Auckland Grand A this week when Gary Smith and Ben Smith won the opening two singles games.
Unfortunately for them the Grand then took the next seven with Shaun Reynolds winning two and John Rickaby, Gary McCaskill, Lee Ellison, Michael Kean and Rob Dalton taking one each. Paul Fox won the final singles game for the home side to leave the score at 3-7. Michael Kean and Gary McCaskill won the first doubles game for the Grand and Ben Smith and Steven Burgess won the second for the Hillingdon. Shaun Reynolds, with his third win of the night, won the captains match to give the Grand a 9-4 victory.
After a 7-6 victory over Bishop Auckland Kings Head last week, Ferryhill Station Eldon Arms travelled to Bishop Auckland for the reverse fixture. The home side started well with wins from Malcolm Parry, David Jacomb and Kevin Watson but Steve Wray and Simon Corbridge replied for the Eldon Arms. Andrew Tuesday and Kevin Watson took the next two for the Kings. With wins from Terry Wray and Steve Wray the visitors brought the score back to 5-4 before Malcolm Parry gave the Kings a 6-4 lead by winning the final singles game. The home side then increased their lead via the doubles when David Jacomb and Andrew Tuesday won their second points of the night and, in the second doubles game, Malcolm Parry and Kevin Watson took their third points of the evening. In the captains game Simon Corbridge took the point to leave the final score at 8-5 in favour of the King's Head.
