The Association's 76 members met in the Regency Hotel, Redcar, to hear how Tom rose through the ranks to become a Chief Petty Officer. Mr Robson traced the history of boy seamen from the Napoleonic Wars, when children aged 14 were press ganged into the Navy or were recruited direct from orphanages.

HUNTSMAN HELP: The Take Heart Support Group, which offers practical help and encouragement to recovering cardiac patients throughout Middlesbrough and East Cleveland, is £200 better off thanks to staff at Huntsman Polyurethanes, Wilton. With 14 classes running each week at nine venues, each supervised by a qualified tutor, the group needs to raise more than £25,000 each year.
