A CELEBRATION of Music in Hartlepool will take place from 7pm at the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road, on Saturday, November 16.
Planned as an annual event, it is to be presented by Hartlepool Music and Arts Festival and will feature performances by Hartlepool Stage Society, Hartlepool Youth and Community Silver Band and others. The evening, which is being hosted by Stuart McFarlane of BBC Radio Cleveland, aims to promote the continuation of music and the arts in the town. The proceeds of the concert will be used to stage the festival next year. The doors will open at 6pm and tickets for the evening, which cost £5 for adults and £4 for concessions, are available from the Town Hall Theatre box office on (01429) 890000.
ONLINE BOOST: The latest link in the web of Stockton Online suites has opened in The Clarences. Based at the Clarences Community Centre, the suite is the 18th location for people to use Stockton Online. As part of the launch, the Clarences Healthy Eating Project received a £326,000 cheque from the New Opportunities Fund. The money will help support the creation of a Healthy Living Centre based in the Clarences Community Centre.
FREE TURKEYS: Shoppers in the borough of Stockton are being given the chance to win a turkey for Christmas. Anyone who buys something from either Stockton, Billingham or Thornaby markets, from Monday November 11, will receive a voucher for the draw to win one of 100 turkeys. Draws will take place on November 30, December 7 and December 14, and winners will be invited to Stockton Town Hall on December 21 to be presented with a token to exchange for their turkey.
OPEN EVENING: An open evening is being held at Stockton and Billingham College on November 19, from 6.30pm until 8pm at the Causeway The event is aimed at year 11 pupils and their parents who are looking into education options for next year. Visitors will also be able to talk to staff, who will be able to advise on full and part-time course options from A-levels to vocational AVCEs. Those attending the event will also get the opportunity to find out more about the college's new, purpose-built Stockton Riverside College, which opens in January. The event is also open to mature students.
DANCE DAY: Hazel Munroe School of Dance will present a Kaleidoscope of Dance at Ormesby School, Fulbeck Road, Middlesbrough, today. Two performances, at 3pm and 7pm, will be in aid of Butterwick Children's Hospice. Tickets are priced £4. For details, call (01642) 624231.
