A man was killed after his bike was hit by a car.
The accident happened at around 10.35pm on Sunday at Norton Road, Stockton opposite the junction with Newlands Avenue.
It is believed the Vauxhall Cavalier car was travelling south along Norton Road when it collided with the back of the bike.
The driver of the car ran off from the scene before the emergency services arrived. The cyclist, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the accident or who may know the driver of the car to contact PC Paul Hunter on (01642) 301558.
