A WOMAN who made more than 2,000 garments for Third World children has died at the age of 94.
Annie Mottram, of St John's Close, Northallerton, made the clothes to help the local branch of Oxfam.
A trained seamstress, she specialised in making cotton dresses and trousers for needy youngsters.
But this was just her winter hobby. During the summer, she kept an excellent vegetable garden at her home and maintained a wide knowledge of plants in general.
Mrs Mottram moved to Northallerton from Leeds in 1987 to be near her daughter, Carol.
Her husband, Asa, had been confined to a wheelchair for some years before his death in 1992 and Mrs Mottram became involved with the Hambleton and Richmondshire Carers branch in Northallerton.
She was also a regular at the Oak Mount day centre on Thirsk Road.
Mrs Mottram, who died at the end of October, was cremated at Middlesbrough on Tuesday.
Her son-in-law, Robin Cook, said: "So many people looked up to her because she was such a busy bee right up to the end.
