ALLERTONSHIRE School pupil Andrew Wilson represented the Yorkshire Under 14 team in a triangular tournament against Lancashire and Cheshire last Sunday.
Following several selection sessions over the summer in Ilkley and Pickering, the young Richmond club player was chosen to play in midfield for his county in the competition in Manchester.
Yorkshire defeated Lancashire 2-0, but the match against Cheshire was abandoned during the second half when a violent hailstorm interrupted proceedings.
On learning of his selection, Andrew was horrified at the advice of the team manager to avoid unnecessary accidents, which meant no skateboarding.
He has played hockey since he was three years old and has been an enthusiastic player for both his school and his club, receiving great encouragement from Mrs Horner of the PE department at Allertonshire School and Tony Potter of Richmond Hockey
