Bishop Auckland have been told Brian Fairhurst must return to Shildon after they were found guilty of an illegal approach. Fairhurst played for Shildon on September 7, and then four days later played for Bishops in. The FA ruled Bishops did not submit the usual seven days notice of approach for the player, so have fined the club £150 and cancelled the player's registration.
Spennymoor won 2-1 at Bamber Bridge on Tuesday night. Moors will play their Durham Challenge cup tie against Sunderland Reserves at Durham City on Wednesday next week.
Stuart Irvine scored a hat trick for Bishops in their 3-2 win at Blyth in the league cup on Wednesday.
Blyth had Andy Martin dismissed for a professional foul, then Phil Brumwell sent-off for handball on the line. Irvine scored from both spot kicks, but Blyth hit back through Gareth Williams and David McMahon. But Irvine scored the winner after 78 minutes to give Bishops a tie at Harrogate in a fortnight .
Bishop's game at Birtley has been arranged for Saturday, November 15, because Birtley's ground doesn't have floodlights.
