Junior round-up - Billingham Wolves have three wins to their name in English Under-19 North A League this season the latest being a 5-2 victory at Kingston Predators.
Wolves took a fourth minute lead through Stuart Gibbon and Robert Dowd made it 2-0 a minute later. Gibbon and Andrew Thornton extended the advantage to 4-0 after 16 minutes. In the final minute of the first period Kingston opened the account.
There were no goals until the 48th minute with Thornton's second goal of the game for a 5-1 lead. Kingston's second consolation goal came on the powerplay in the final minute. A Wolves win that sees them move above Kingston into third place.

Nottingham Leopards are still the only side to have a 100 per cent record after a 4-0 victory at Hillheads against Whitley Braves.
Leopards went ahead in this Under-19 league encounter after two minutes. Later Braves' netminder Stephen Hoult was in fine form and kept his side in the match.
Whitley were unlucky with numerous efforts on goal and deserved more from the game. Nottingham scored a third at 30-21 and the fourth on 48.07. Leopards' Adam Scruby received a ten, game and gross misconduct for abuse of official.
Sunderland Commanches picked up another win in English Under-14 North A league with a 13-0 victory at Billingham Falcons. Billingham included new signing Canadian Jeffrey Brown making his debut and Falcons having two full lines for the first time this season.
Commanches took the lead after three minutes through Ross Cameron and Daniel Murdy struck a second five minutes later. The Wearsiders extended the lead with six second period goals from James Horkan, Richard Emerson, Callum Pattison (2), Murdy and Nathan Salem., Falcons failed to produce a shot on Commanches net in the second period.
The final period brought a further five Sunderland goals including three from Murdy.

Two teams with 100 per cent records came together in English Under-16 North A league when Billingham Bears travelled to Sheffield Rapiers. There was not much to choose between them but it was Sheffield that edged home 2-1 winners, the winner having a little luck about it as a pass across ice bobbled up hit the knee of a Bears defenceman into the net with a little over a minute remaining. Sheffield had taken the lead early in the second period. bears got on level terms at 38.31 on the powerplay through James Udell.
A draw was looking on the cards for a fair result until the cruel deflection.

In the same league Whitley Tomahawks had a 3-1 win over Nottingham Cougars at Hillheads. A deserved victory which could have been by a much bigger margin. Shaun Kippin and Ricky Box both converted powerplays to pout Whitley 2-0 ahead inside seven minutes.
Nottingham cut the deficit in the 19th minute for the only goal of the middle period. The two goal lead was restored at 33.57 with Kippin's second of the game. Whitley's Andrew Wile received a five plus game misconduct for roughing on the final whistle. Cougars coach picked up a gross misconduct for abuse of official.

Whitley Arrows Under-12 North A League clash at Kingston Rivermen. It was an excellent advert for youth hockey and unfortunate for Whitley they lost 10-7. Callum Watson and Liam Brown put Arrows 2-0 ahead at 04.54. Kingston opened their account three minutes later.
Watson (2) and Craig Lydall were on target to give Whitley a 5-1 lead at 19-12. Kingston scored three times in as many minutes to reduce the deficit t0 4-5 four minutes later. They went 8-5 ahead at 31.58 with four goals in two minutes.
Watson and Stephen Bennett kept Whitley in the match as they out their side within one of Kingston. In the final minute Kingston scored their ninth after Whitley had pulled their netminder in favour of a forward and reached double figures at 33.36.

Whitley Bay Squaws lost 5-2 at leaders Blackburn Thunder inn Womens Division One North. Thunder scored twice in the first eight minutes to gain a 2-0 lead. Sara Christie cut the deficit with a 23rd minute reply. Two goals from Thunder in the 29th minute gave them a 4-1 lead. Emma Brown struck a second ar 38.01 and Blackburn rounded off the scoring in the final minute.

Jack Watkins scored five goals and one assist as Sunderland Appaches won 9-4 at Altrincham Colts in an Under-10 Challenge. Alex Lawson and Watkins gave Apaches a 2-0 lead inside 77 seconds. Michael Elder and Lawson had scored for a 4-1 first period advantage.

English National Hockey League North
Billingham Bombers made hard work of their 9-4 win over Bradford Bulldogs at Forum Ice Arena. Bombers led 3-0 inside 13 minutes with goals from Stuart Gibbon (2), and Martin Lewis.
Bulldogs first reply came at 16.18. The middle period brought four goals two from each side, Scott Ward and Paul Windridge on target for Billingham.
the final period saw Windridge (2), Andrew Thornton and Andrew Wells complete the scoring.

Sunderland Chiefs suffered a 10-1 defeat at Blackburn Hawks, Cheifs went ahead with a Jonathan Heslop goal after six minutes. Netminder John Worrall saved Chiefs from a much heavier defeat facing 81 shots.

Whitley Warriors were in English Premier League Cup action at at Peterborough Phantoms. Daniel Good put Whitley ahead and Andrew Carter hit a second in a 2-2 first period. Phantoms were 7-2 ahead when Paul Graham scored the visitor's third.
