Emergency Services League: Tyne and Wear regained top spot with a 6-1 victory over Sedgefield with two goals each for Lee Chape and Sowerby and a goal each from Billy Khatib and Scott Curtis, Simon Morley scored Sedgefield's consolation goal.
Easington were knocked off top spot when they failed to beat Newcastle, who themselves are climbing the table. The match was always going to be close and ended up 2-2. Paul Makepeace scored both goals for Newcastle, while Easington's goals were scored by Steve Hawkes and Brendan Jackson, with the equaliser coming with the last kick of the match.
Saints kept up the pressure at the top with a 4-2 win at Derwentside. They were three up at half-time with long range strikes from Les Goodliff and Mick Robinson and a fumbled error let in Paul Barrett. In the second half Derwentside took the game to Saints and pulled back through an 18-yard strike from Andy Liddell. They were then reduced to ten men through injury, but reduced the deficit farther with a deflected goal. In the end Saints wrapped up the points with a second goal from Goodliffe. Langbaurgh move into second with an eight goal crushing of Darlington. Matt Lymer led the way with four goals with two for Darren Henry and one each for Matty Butcher and Darryl Tomlinson. Gary Ward scored for Darlington.
Durham Fire repeated last week's cup win over Durham HQ with a 4-2 win in the league. Button and Insall scored for HQ.
* The league faces a wait this week to see if they will lose another team with Frankland having a crisis meeting to decide their future. The team have had a poor start to the season and are struggling for players.
