MEDICAL officials have renewed a suspension order against a North-East doctor.
Two years ago, the General Medical Council (GMC) suspended Dr Michael Donnolly from the register of public health doctors pending a full investigation into allegations made against him.
In its latest private session, the GMC's interim orders committee directed that its earlier order suspending the doctor should remain in place.
At the time of his original suspension, Dr Donnolly was living in Belfast. He now lives in Wolsingham, County Durham.
It is understood he practised in the Sunderland area in the mid-1990s before moving to Northern Ireland.
A spokesman for the GMC said: "This is not a finding of fact but a precautionary measure taken by the GMC for the protection of the public pending a full investigation."
