PEOPLE are being asked to add an extra item to their Christmas shopping list to help poverty-stricken families in the North-East.
The Children North-East charity, which supports more than 2,000 families in the region, is making the request as part of its Giving Tree Appeal.
Fundraising officer Karen Smith said: "For those families facing major problems such as poverty, homelessness, unemployment, illness or family break-up, the additional pressures of Christmas can sometimes prove unbearable."
If you can donate a new children's toy or a small family hamper, call Ms Smith on 0191-232 3741.
