EXOTIC instruments from all parts of the world were on show at a Darlington school yesterday.
Raventhorpe Preparatory School welcomed back the award-winning show Travelling by Tuba after a successful visit last year.
Performers Gavin Woods and Stewart Death go on a journey around the world, playing unusual instruments, including Egyptian ocarinas, Chinese dragon-headed trumpets, the Alpenhorn and the schnib from Turkey.
Headteacher at Raventhorpe Preparatory School, Doreen Proctor, said: "This was the sequel. We had the first visit last year and the children were very excited about the return because they enjoyed it so much.
"This year's theme was around the world with instruments from many different countries, and also strongly featured the tuba of course."
The finale of the show was a performance of Henry Mancini's Pink Panther theme, followed by Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, which ended with a loud blast from a tuba-like instrument.
After a short break there was a workshop where all the children got to try out the instruments.
Mrs Proctor said: "It went extremely well, all the children loved it. It was a thoroughly enjoyable musical morning in which all the children participated."
