DURHAM'S opening match in cricket's new 20-over thrash next season will be at home to Nottinghamshire on June 13.

The competition, named the Twenty20 Cup, replaces the Benson & Hedges with the counties split into groups of three. The top county in each group, plus the best of the runners-up, will contest the semi-finals and final on the same day.

Matches are scheduled to start at 5.30 and finish around 8.15 and Durham's only other home game is against Leicestershire on June 18. They will be away to Yorkshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire.

Also new to the fixture list are two competitive games against Scotland, who have been admitted to the 45-over National League. Durham play them at home on May 4 and visit The Grange ground in Edinburgh on July 7.

Durham will not have the luxury of warming up against a university side next season as they go straight into a County Championship match against relegated Somerset at Taunton on April 23.

India A are to visit the Riverside for a four-day match against Durham starting on June 27.

For the first time in 12 years of first-class cricket Durham will not visit an outground. All their home matches are scheduled for the Riverside and hopes that the championship game against Yorkshire would be at Scarborough have not materialised.
