FOCUS ON NELSON: Bob Moon will give a slide show and talk about Britain's greatest naval hero, Lord Nelson, to Stanley Men's Thursday Club at 10.30am next Thursday, in the Lamplight Arts Centre, Stanley.
ART CLASS: A watercolour painting class is held from 10am until noon on Fridays in Delves Lane Village Hall.
ANGELIC CEILIDH: The Angels of the North will provide the music for a ceilidh at 7.30pm on Saturday, November 23, in the Marley Hill Community Centre. Tickets cost £4 and £3.
FESTIVE SPIRIT: A hamper of spirits worth £200 was donated to the Delves Lane Village Hall Christmas Fair by the Asda store in Stanley.
AHOY THERE: The Pirates of Penzance will be staged by South Moor and District Operatic and Dramatic Society at 7pm, from Tuesday to Sunday, November 19 to 24, in the Lamplight Arts Centre. Tickets cost £5 (£4 concessions).
SPORTSMANS DINNER: A sportman's dinner with guest speaker Ian St John will be held by South Moor Junior Football Club in the Lancastrian Suite of the Federation Brewery, Tyneside, next Thursday. The tickets are £25 each and can be bought from Terry Liddell, on (01207) 232432.
SCHOOL REUNION: A reunion is being held for former pupils of Townley Memorial School on Thursday, November 28, in Stanley Central Club. More details are available from Jean on 0191-370 1464.
HOUSEHOLD AUCTION: Catchgate Methodist Church is holding a household auction from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday. Viewing is from 12.30pm to 2pm and refreshments will be available.
