EIGHT people were arrested in connection with computer crime, child abuse and indecency following a series of raids yesterday.
The eight men arrested were from Scarborough, Ryedale, Northallerton, York, Selby, Harrogate and Craven areas.
Only brief details emerged last night but it is known to have been part of a nationwide investigation, known as Operation Ore.
Forces across the country are taking part in the inquiries into alleged child abuse and indecency using the Internet as a means of accessing or distributing indecent and abusive material.
In North Yorkshire, the investigation is being co-ordinated by Detective Inspector Alan Rose, who said the raids followed a long intelligence-gathering operation.
