STUDENTS at the college attended by murdered backpacker Caroline Stuttle will today be raising funds for the Rainbow Foundation set up in her memory.
York College is holding a gap-year fair to help other students plan their year off and to travel safely.
Catering students have baked 500 rainbow cookies - using Smarties donated by Nestle - while the students' union will sell rainbow ribbon badges and hold a raffle.
All proceeds will go towards educating young people about travel abroad and offering them support and advice.
Caroline, who was 19, was murdered in April while travelling in Queensland, Australia, during a gap-year trip.
College bosses organised the fair at the sixth form site.
Caroline's mother, Marjorie, welcomed the college's help in raising awareness of the Rainbow Foundation, and also in fundraising for the cause.
