People in North Yorkshire will have their recyclable waste removed by a new type of vehicle.

With a Mercedes chassis and a Terberg 'kerbsider' body, Harrogate Borough Council said their new vehicle would prove a smarter and more reliable way to collect people's rubbish. The new truck will complete the kerbside recycling trial scheme taking place in east Harrogate, Knaresborough and the Vale of York.

ROAD CLOSURE: New Lane, in Burtersett, will be closed for watermain repairs for 50 metres from Monday. The work could be finished by the following day, although provision has been made to close the road until next Friday.

ROBBIE'S ANGELS: A stage show paying tribute to Robbie Williams is planned at the Richmondshire Cricket Club this month. LOCAL HISTORY: Historian Maurice Taylor is planning a lecture on the ancient right of sanctuary in Ripon and other northern towns and cities. The lecture - Licence to Kill - will be held in Ripon Cathedral library on Saturday at 3pm. Admission is £2.
