Anna Richardson, Durham City's 15-year-old, gained a gold medal last weekend, playing for the North East Counties District 17 years and under girls team which won the ASA National Inter District water polo championships at Grantham.
The NEC girls defeated a very strong Northern Counties team after extra time to clinch the title.
"This is an excellent performance by someone who has been playing the game for only three years," said Durham club official Peter Rawlings, "Anna deserves her success for her dedication and the hard work she has undertaken to reach this standard."
Anna will be eligible to play for the same NEC girls team for the next two years.
