Archdeacon 5 v DSRMSC Reserves
Archdeacon took an early lead when a corner was headed home but a Rolly's levelled matters from the penalty spot. The Deacon led 2-1 at the interval and an own goal presented them with a safety cushion which was increased to four late in the second half. Paul Scott and Michael Duffy, who also got the man of the match award, each notched a brace for the Deacon.
Hole in the Wall 2 v 0 Grey Horse
Grey Horse dominated for 80 minutes but having turned round all square at the interval Wall's man of the match, Andrew Wedgewood broke away to force a corner and the same player scored from the resulting kick with a glancing header. Grey Horse threw everything forward but the Wall goal led a charmed life with defenders and the woodwork blocking shots and Kevin Myers cleared one goalbound effort off the line. Wall's luck stayed with them and in the final minute Wedgewood again broke clear to seal victory.
Post Boy 2 v 6 Albion
An excellent game was marred by the sendings-off of three players but before being reduced to ten men, Albion had raced into a four-goal lead. Post Boy did pull two back but following the sending-off of a player from each side, Albion once again took up the initiative to score twice more to take the points. Albion's scorers were Gary Mitchell (3), John Banks and subs Christopher Robinson and Darren Kacis. Paul Robson and Jason Rothwell scored for champions and the respective man of the match awards went to Post Boy keeper, Ian Walton, and Paul O'Hagan.
East End WMC were the only representatives to lose in the Durham Minor Cup going down 1-0 to Church and Friendly League outfit, Stillington The Royal.
However, both Newton Aycliffe and Shuttle and Loom had resounding 7-1 victories against Lanchester Chapel and Evenwood White Swan respectively. Paul Soderman (3), Paul Hutchinson (2), Terry Greenstreet and Chris Airey were on target for Shuttle and Lee Bonas (3), Anthony Campbell (3) and James Miller were Aycliffe's marksmen.
In the South Durham Bowl the result was one win and one defeat for the League's representatives. Bishop Auckland Rugby Club and Killinghall Arms were all square at three apiece after 90 minutes but Killie got a vital extra time winner to progress to the next round.
DGSOB put up a valiant display against Durham Alliance League outfit, Cockfield but went down 6-0.
* The League was sorry to hear of the death of former League chairman Jack Raper at the weekend and the League's thoughts are with Jack's family and his many friends at this sad time.
