The Harrogate Junior age group meet was held at the end of October. The impressive Hydro pool was the superb venue for a weekend of exciting and high class competition.
The dozen NASC swimmers were clearly not daunted or out of their depth in this highly competitive event. All the swimmers taking part achieved personal best times.
They were: Adele Carmichael (2), Oliver Wray (1), Adam Lister (4), Zara Dee Hannay (5), Abbie Thompson (2), Ewan Lister (1), Latie Thompson (2), Laura Caygill (1), Samara McVay (1) and Jayne Truman (1).
Medals went to Adele with a fourth, two fifths and a sixth place and Zara-Dee with a gold, silver, bronze, fourth, fifth and seventh place breaking no fewer than five club records in the process.
Jessica Noone, swimming under Borough of Stockton, did extremely well cheered on by her Northallerton teammates taking gold, bronze, three fifths, a sixth and seventh with six personal bests, also James Dixon, firstly a Bedale swimmer who had recently joined NASC for extra pool time swam bravely in all three sessions. James had just completed a week's gruelling intensive training at Berwick on Tweed making his efforts at the meet more remarkable.
Special recognition went to Laura Caygill and Katie Thompson who both made substantial improvement in their 50m breaststroke times. Laura just missing out on what would have been a well-earned medal. Both girls have shown dedication throughout the year and have been regular competitors for the Northallerton Girls ten-years team which had been one of the strongest in the region during the whole of 2002.
Club coach Barbara Blades said: "The team spirit was so evident with all support and performances. We have a real family spirit throughout the club welcoming swimmers of all abilities.
"It is also imperative that we assist all our members from the most dedicated who can benefit by joining schemes like the Moors Swim squad and Teesside Club to gain additional experience, to the fun swimmer who may require to do one session a week.
"They may train with other clubs or strive to improve by training with their home club solely. Whatever they choose they will remain a part of Northallerton ASC and will always be supported by us."
