When Bishop Auckland Manor visited Bishop Auckland Bay Horse this week the match started off as a very even contest with Ron Wright winning the first game for the Manor and Garry Lamb evening things up by taking the next for the Bay Horse.
Jon Tomlinson put the visitors in front again before the home side's Lee Harker equalised. Steven Webb restored the visitors lead and Ron Wright followed this with his second singles victory of the night to give the Manor a two-frame lead. Peter Mernor increased this further in the next frame before Bay Horse captain, Wilson Harrison pulled a frame back. John Collinson took the next for the visitors and Steven Webb the final frame to give his side a 7-3 win in the singles. The first doubles match also went to the Manor when Peter Mernor and Jon Tomlinson took the game. Michael Wright and Lee Harker took the second doubles point for the Bay Horse before Steven Webb completed his evening by taking the captains, and his third win of the night, to give the Manor a 9-4 victory.
Bishop Auckland Grand hosted Bishop Auckland Green Tree and got off to a fantastic start with six consecutive wins in the singles. The victors were Gary McCaskill, Rob Dalton, Steve Gardiner, John Rickaby, Shaun Reynolds and Ryan Holdsworth. Lee Johnson and Mark Heward took the next two for the visitors to try and turn the game but to no avail. The home side took the next two points through Simon Gillespie and Shaun Reynolds. Lee Johnson and Mark Heward were again on form to take the first doubles and their side followed up when Tony Mortimer and John Wearmouth won the second. Shaun Reynolds finished the game in style, taking his third victory of the evening in the captains, to leave the final score at 9-4.
