CIU League: Malcolm McDonald and Paul Kerr of Byers Green won the Delegates Cup when they beat Arthur Hope and Ernie Lomax of Crook Belle Vue in the Final.

In the semi-finals Kerr and McDonald beat Kevin Whitehead and Peter Boucher of Newfield, whilst Hope and Lomax beat Steve Wray and Terry Wray of Ferryhill.

The League's Annual Presentation Evening will be held tonight in Cockton Hill Club at 7.30 p.m.

Willington Ladies League

Willington Market darts team hit their best form of the season when they visited second placed, Willington Club A and only dropped one point. This result allowed the Willington Club B team to move 12 points clear, whilst Sunnybrow Brown Trout moved up just a point behind the Club A side.

Hunwick Joiners Arms lead the dominoes section by six points. Willington Club B edged one point ahead of Willington Cottles in the race for the second place after they beat their rivals by the odd point.

Bishop Auckland & District CIU Winter

Tindale Crescent won the deciding team game to win their home game against Cockton Hill by the odd point. This pulled the two teams level at the top of the darts section. W. Percival and K. Spensley won for Tindale, whilst M. Watson and T. Ward replied for the Hill.

Cockton Hill were held to a pool draw at Tindale Crescent and this cost them the sole ownership of the top spot because Eldon Lane moved up to share it after they whitewashed the visiting West Auckland.

The top spot in the dominoes section is shared by West Auckland and Tindale Crescent after West only dropped one point at Eldon Lane. West's dominoes points came from M. Townsend, J. Roe and I. Bowes, whilst B. Craggs scored for Eldon Lane.

Crook Cup

Crook Royal Sun came within the narrowest of margins of beating the visiting, high-flying Crook Travellers Rest B but eventually went out in the deciding extra game.

The Sun took two snooker points when David Haygarth and Ronnie Hope won singles whilst the Travellers edged ahead with singles wins from Aaron Cowan, Michael Burke, Peter Coates and Jimmy Singlewood to add to the doubles point from Peter Coates and Aaron Cowan.

The opposite occurred in the dominoes games, where the Travellers only took singles point through Bill Fairhurst and Jim Ainsley whilst the home side had singles points from Kenny Smith, John Hunt, David Haygarth and John Howcroft with David Haygarth and John Hunt squaring the match by taking the doubles. The Sun won the toss for naming the deciding game and chose dominoes but Kenny Smith was beatn by Bill Fairhurst.

In the Second Division Cup, Crook Surtees scored a very good home win over Crook Jelly's Bar A, who only collected singles snooker points from John Gibson and Andrew Heyes and dominoes points from Rav Hall and Clive Witton. The Surtees snooker points came from John Collingwood, Chris Bainbridge, Paul Ford and John Uren, whilst dominoes points came from Bob Heslop, Alan Tomlinson and Chris Bainbridge with Dickie Allison and John uren getting the winning eighth point in the dominoes doubles.

Tow Law Coors Cup

Tow Law Rose and Crown made a remarkable recovery to win their first match of this annual competition when they beat the visiting Tow Law Football Club in the deciding pool doubles. The footballers got away to a great start when they took the first five pool singles through Terry Ginty, Paul Carroll, Les Hind, Charlie Donaghy and Arthur Henderson before Gavin Hammell broke the home duck.

Isaac Slack took the first dominoes point for the visitors but then the home side took over with wins from Anthony Ward, Chris Bowes, Lee Mowbray and Paul Garraway. The footballers then moved one away from victory when Arthur Henderson and Charlie Donaghy won the first pool doubles. However the home side took the second pool doubles and the captain's dominoes, where Anthony Hird beat Isaac Slack. In the deciding pool doubles, Steven Todd and Gavin Hammell took the home side through by beating Paul Carroll and Keith Muse.

Tow Law North Point pulled off a very good away win in the decider at Tow Law Dan's Castle A. The pool singles were shared with Lee Stockdale, Anthony Hird and Malcolm Umpelby winning for the Castle and Gary Watson, Alan Henderson and Steve Simmons replying. The Points commanded the dominoes with wins from Phil hall, Paul Graham, Colin Armstrong and Alan Henderson with only David Craggs taking a point for the Castle. The home side fought back to square the match by taking all three pool doubles, but Paul Graham proved to be the Point's hero when he beat Anthony Hird in the deciding dominoes captain's game.

Willington Cup

The competition for combined scores from darts and dominoes will start the First Round on Monday, November 18, when teams will play five darts, best of three legs, and five dominoes, best of seven legs to decide the winner. In the event of a draw then a decider will be played at the game decided by the winner of a coin spin before the match starts.
