RESIDENTS in a commuter village are fighting plans for further development in their community.
York's new Local Plan, which sets out the how the district will be developed over the next decade, has gone out for public consultation.
It includes proposals for a huge building campaign in the village of Huntington.
Parish council clerk, Peter Richardson, said: "About 71 per cent of new commercial development and about 31 per cent of new housing in the city will be in Huntington, according to the Local Plan.
"We think that is very unfair to Huntington and its residents."
Earlier this year, 1,200 local people signed a letter asking the city council to reconsider the proposals.
The parish council plans to call public meetings to voice local opposition.
