FARMERS of all ages battled it out at the weekend in the first Barnard Castle tractor pull.
The event, held at Streatlam Farm, saw local farmers, farm workers and agricultural contractors test their tractor's pulling power during the event, which was held over Saturday and Sunday.
The tractors were pulling as much as 75 tonnes and vehicles used in the challenge included a 30hp TBO Ferguson and a 300hp Case Magnum.
The overall winner was John Carrick in his Massey Ferguson 200hp, with three full pulls, with David Adams and Angus Stoke coming joint second, both on two pulls.
The event, organised by the Barnard Castle Steam Struck and Tractor Club, was not just for the men, with Donna Martin managing three pulls over the two days.
Other trophy winners were Mark Thorn, Alan Simpson, Richard Buck, John Brown, Alistair Coulthard, Mark Waldock, Richard Bainbridge and Andrew Buck.
Following the event's success, the next tractor pull will be held on December 28, from 2pm, at Streatlam Farm, near Barnard Castle.
