YOUNGSTERS were given a brief taste of what school life was like for their Victorian forbears.
Pupils turned up in period dress when the Minster School in York turned the clock back to a much stricter age.
They discovered their usual teacher had been replaced by a Victorian schoolma'am, Miss Wicks, who emerged complete with cane.
However, the children had nothing to worry about because Miss Wicks was Century Adventures actor Lucy Adlington.
After a fascinating day in the past, things quickly returned to normal.
