The North Yorkshire/South Durham (NYSD) Cricket League Player of the Year for 2002 is Tim Hood of Marske Cricket Club.
Tim was presented with his Award at the annual NYSD Presentation Evening held recently at Billingham Synthonia Recreation Club by David Copland, Marketing and Communications Manager at Darlington Building Society. The Society has sponsored the NYSD league for 12 consecutive seasons, believed to be something of a record in local sports sponsorship.
Tim Hood deserved his award which rounded off a remarkable season during which he recorded 536 runs at an average of 25.59 and 59 wickets at an average of 18.07. In addition, Tim took five or more wickets on five separate occasions in the league.
On presenting Tim with his trophy, David said: "Congratulations to Tim on this excellent achievement. The NYSD Player of the Year Award is the Award which is most highly valued by all NYSD league players."
He added: "Darlington Building Society is dedicated to looking after local interests and we feel this includes the support for grass roots sport in the region. The Society remains committed to supporting the development of local sport and the development of star players such as Tim Hood and we are pleased therefore that his achievements have been recognised."
