A 63-year-old man was jailed for ten years yesterday after admitting serious sex offences.

Stanley Hall, of Durham Road, Redcar, pleaded guilty to five charges, when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court.

Deborah Sherwin, prosecuting, said Hall at first denied the charges but later changed his plea.

Dan Cordy, defending, said he was a man who once held the respect of his neighbours and family but was now shunned by them all.

Mr Cordy said that Hall, who was prepared for a long custodial sentence, had put his house up for sale and had his two dogs put to sleep. He was now a sad and lonely man.

Judge John Walford said: "It is one of the worst cases of its type that it is possible to imagine.''
