LUMLEY Castle's 100th reception this year turned out to be a trans-Atlantic wedding dash.
Adam and Wana Cook, who live in Florida, America, decided they wanted to hold their wedding reception at Lumley Castle near Chester-le-Street, not far from where Adam lived until three years ago.
The couple got married on the way to Orlando airport after picking up a wedding licence and then embarked on a nine hour flight to Gatwick Airport.
At Gatwick they met Wana's parents and then took another flight to Newcastle.
Adam's mum Eleanor, from Ayton, Washington, said: "It was a case of them getting married in Florida and getting on the plane and virtually coming straight to the reception. We just carried on as if we'd just come from the ceremony."
The management gave the Cooks a set of champagne flutes and a framed description of the meaning of their name.
