Because of waterlogged pitches, just two games went ahead. Ryhope CW improved their position near the bottom, defeating Barnard Castle Glaxo 4-2.
It looked all over when Stephen Rochester (2) and Richard Nell put the Wearsiders three up by the 32nd minute but when John Williams and Paul Murray responded for Glaxo, it was all to play for. Ryhope's nerves were eased with a late goal from Rochester, completing his hat-trick.
Harton and Westoe halted North Shields' recent winning sequence in a goal-less draw. Lee Seff struck the post for the visitors and Dominic Graham had a shot cleared from the line when the Robins looked like breaking the deadlock.
Stokesley SC progressed in the North Riding County Cup but they needed extra time against tenacious Fishburn Park.
Craig Johnson put the home side in front before half-time but when Dominic Gamble levelled, additional time was needed. Jonathan Smith (2), Jonathan Newton and man-of-the-match Stephen Pennock struck for Stokesley with Neil Braithwaite Fishburn's other marksman.
Redcar Town celebrated their return to action with a 5-1 victory at Teesside Athletic. Glen Dolan (2), Lee Leneghan, Wayne Skelton and Tony Peacock scored to take the Seasiders into the next round.
