HOLLYWOOD has its Walk of Fame, imprinted with the hand and foot prints of 2,000 movie stars, film makers and artists.
The tribute to the stars runs 18 blocks along the Hollywood Boulevard.
Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in Hartlepool a large cast iron disc incorporating the signatures of some of the people working in the town's Brunswick Shops is going to be set into block paving being laid outside the Northgate precinct.
"We wanted to add a thought-provoking attraction to Brunswick Shops which would work like a snapshot in time - something very specific to the shops and offices and the people who work in them," said Roger Dickinson, art link officer with the North Hartlepool Single Regeneration Budget Partnership.
"We gathered the signatures of some of the people working in those shops and offices and used them to commemorate their presence here. Time and people move on, but this piece of work will remain - capturing a moment in the area's history."
The disc will eventually form part of a heritage trail for visitors to Hartlepool's Headland.
The partnership has spent £150,000 this year on major improvements in the area around the precinct with all 11 shops given a facelift last year.
