A NAVAL engineer with a head for figures collected a mathematics award at the end of his basic training course.
Weapons engineering artificer Clive Treby, aged 22, from Bishop Auckland, completed his training at HMS Raleigh, the Royal Navy's new entry training establishment at Torpoint, Cornwall.
At the end-of-training prizegiving he was presented with the mathematics prize which is awarded to the apprentice who achieved the highest marks over the ten-week course.
Clive went to Bishop Barrington School and worked as a clerical officer before joining up. He is a keen footballer and played at county level.
He has now moved on to HMS Collingwood, at Fareham, Hampshire, where he will complete further specialist training.
