POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic accident that took place in Ripon earlier this month.
Two silver cars, an Astra and a Peugeot 306, collided by the Safeway supermarket traffic lights on Harrogate Road at 2.20pm on November 2.
Astra driver Maurice Harland, 72, from Bradford and Peugeot driver Richard Thomas, 30, from Boroughbridge, suffered only minor injuries
However, Mr Harland's wife, Irene, 73, who was the Astra's front seat passenger, suffered serious injuries and is now in the intensive care unit at Harrogate District Hospital.
Police are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen the accident. Anyone who can help is urged to call the special witness line on (01423) 539474.
