An animal feeds mill at Piercebridge, near Darlington, is to form the hub of a joint venture company, FeedCo.
It has been set up with immediate effect by North-East farming co-operative Farmway and Lloyd's Animal Feeds, the UK's largest privately-owned animal feeds manufacturer.
The Farmway plant's nine jobs are secure and, with expansion plans already in mind, some jobs may be created.
FeedCo plans to invest substantial sums to enhance the Piercebridge plant and bring it up to its full operating potential.
