STAFF and customers at a pub have been crowned champions at fundraising.
More than £2,500 has been raised by pub locals at Brompton on Swale, North Yorkshire, for two deserving causes in the region.
Drinkers at The Crown, near Northallerton, completed a 10-mile sponsored walk. Organised by landlady Morag Macintosh, the event raised £900.
The money was split between St Teresa's Hospice, in Darlington, and Jake Burgess, a local youngster who suffers from autism. Jake's family are raising funds to send him to the US for treatment.
The pub also entered a team into Catterick Garrison's endurance test event, which was organised to raise money for Jake. The pub won the competition, raising £1,700.
The Crown's team has placed the trophy in a display case in the bar.
Morag said: "Both events were a great deal of fun and we are absolutely delighted to have raised so much money for our chosen causes.
"After the sponsored walk, there were quite a few pairs of tired feet, but we all had a great day. Likewise, we are extremely proud of our team's performance in the endurance test."
