A programme of street entertainment takes place tomorrow in the run-up to the Christmas lights switch-on in Newcastle city centre.
From 12.30pm, acts will perform on a stage in Grey Street, at its junction with Market Street. Bands playing include Balkan fusion band the Baghdaddies, and jazz bands Jazz Girl and Djangology.
Century Radio's breakfast maestro, Paul "Goffy" Gough will be on stage after 6pm, before Geordie TV duo Ant and Dec turn on the lights at 6.30pm.
During the afternooon, buskers will perform in Northumberland Street, the Central Arcade, the Theatre Royal and in Grainger Street.
Shoppers in Northumberland Street will also be entertained with street theatre by Michief le bass, with a seasonal tale about a forest of Christmas trees nervous about their future as the festive season approaches.
